Mera Peak Climbing is the most climbed peak in Nepal. It is popular among tourists for offering the best Peak climbing experience. Mera exists to the south of Mount Everest. It looms above the Himalayan Hinku and Hongu valleys. The summit allows views of five mountains that are above 8000m. The enthralling views of Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Kanchanjunga, Makalu, Baruntse and Amadablam Mountains make Climbing Mera Peak worth taking. Mera Peak is the collective form of Mera North (6476m), Mera Central (6461 m) and Mera South (6065 m).

Mera Peak is not much technical mountain, it demands great stamina level. Be prepared to tackle the obstacle of energy and you need to overcome the challenge placed by the high altitude. Adventure seekers do not need to face more than 30 degrees elevation. Mera is also famous for the sunrise views in Mount Everest and Kanchenjunga. from the summit.

It was climbed for the first time in 1953 by the team of J.O.M. Roberts and Sen Tenzing. Mera peak climbing route proceeds through forest grove which is home of Himalayan wildlife like snow leopard and Himalayan Thar.

Well Adventure Tours & Travel offers 19days Mera Peak climbing. We will take 30minutes of Kathmandu Lukla flight. We will pass through Paiya and Pangkoma to Nigmsa. Crossing Chetrakhola, we will reach Kothe and pass through Thagnag and Khare to Mera Peak Base Camp. We will also cross Zatrwa La Pass which connects Hinku with Hongu Valley. This is a rough outline. Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)

Once you arrive in Kathmandu Airport, you will complete your visa formalities and then meet our representative who will pick you up and shift you to three star hotel for your luxurious stay. You will get refreshed and then escorted to our Travel Agency where you will be introduced with your crew members. Some moments will be given to get up close and personal. You will enjoy delicious cuisine and get pleasant accommodation in Kathmandu.

Day 02

Sightseeing in Kathmandu

We will get up with wakeup call and take light breakfast before leaving for full day Kathmandu tour of UNESCO enlisted sites. We will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath, Swayambhunath, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square. Kasthamandap Temple, Kumari Ghar and Hanumandhoka temple are things to see in Kathmandu Durbar Square. Kasthamandap Temple was built from the single tree. Kumari Ghar is the home of living goddess. Swayambhunath which is also known as Monkey Temple is the oldest stupa in the world while Bouddhanath is one of the largest stupa in Nepal. We will also visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square and observe arts and design in palaces of medieval Nepal.

Day 03

Kathmandu to Lukla flight, Trek to Paiya (Chutok) (2730m), 4hrs

After light breakfast, we will drive to Kathmandu Airport. 30 minutes of Kathmandu Lukla flight will take us to Tenzing- Hilary Airport at Lukla. Mera Peak Trek begins from Lukla. We will cross the river and climb through forest for about 4hours to arrive at small Paiya village. We can get spectacular views of Kongde Ri, Tang Ragi Tu and other mountains from Paiya.

Day 04

Trek to Pangkoma (2850m), 6hrs

A short hike will take us to the wooden bridge above river. We will cross the bridge to reach the meadow. Walking further, we will reach to the base of Kari La Pass. We need to climb Karila pass to reach Pangkoma. The top of Karila Pass offers us with panoramic views of Dudh Koshi Valley and Dudh Kunda Mountain. The rock strewn path will take us to culturally rich Pangkoma Village.

Day 05

Trek to Nigmsa (Shibuche) (2745m), 5hrs

The trail takes us through the crop field. Exiting from Pangkoma, we will enter the dense thicket which comes lively with soothing sound of chirping birds. We will walk past Mani wall to the ridge summit. We will enjoy the view of southern face of Mera Peak from the top. After brief rest, we will lower down through pine woods to Nigmsa (Shibuche).

Day 06

Trek to Chetrakhola (3150m), 8hrs

Exiting from Nigmsa, we will follow the route that contours up through the rhododendron and bamboo forest. Soon after, we will reach the landslide area. Cautious walk through the landslide area will take us to the river. We might need to locate our own route on this day. We will arrive at a place near the cave. Walking further, we can arrive at Chetra Khola.

Day 07

Trek to Kothe (3600m), 7hrs

Pleasant trek of about 4hrs will take us to the top of hill that is located above Hinku Valley. We will enjoy the views of mountains and beautiful Hinku valley from the hilltop. Later, we will lower down from the hill through the bamboo and pine forest to arrive at Tashing Dingma. Walking further, we will make it to Kothe.

Day 08

Trek to Thagnag (4350m), 4hrs

After having light breakfast in the camp in Kothe, we will make our climb to the top of hill nearby Hinku Khola. The trail contours up from the hill to culturally rich Gondishung village where we will visit Lungsumgba Monastery. Journey continues to Thagnag which is the summer grazing area.

Day 09

Acclimation Day at Thagnag

There are lots of natural grandeurs to see in Thagnag. We will take brief rest from Mera Peak Climb and devote this day for sightseeing in Thagnag. We will explore the village and learn about the ways of living. We might also take brief visit to Charpate Himal glacier.

Day 10

Trek to Khare (5045m), 3hrs

Journey on 10th day begins from Dig glacier. We will descend through the slippery path to Dig Kharka which is the grazing land. The trail contours up through Hinku Nup and Shar Glaciers to reach Khare.

Day 11

Trek to Mera Base Camp (5300m), 4hrs

We will follow the rock strewn path to Mera Base Camp where we will follow the instructions of our team leader. We will practice to climb Mera peak on this day and stay overnight in the Base Camp.

Day 12

Trek to High Camp (5780m), 5hrs

This is the day when our climb begins. We will take 5hours of climb through slopes and glaciers to Mera Peak High camp. High Camp will be at the top of glaciated stones. We will prepare for the upcoming trekking and stay overnight at the tented camp.

Day 13

Trek to Summit (6461m) Back to Base Camp (5300m), 7hrs

This is the day that we were waiting for. This is also the most technical part of Mera Climb. We will fix cables and ladder and reach the Mera Peak summit which offers us with the views of Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Kanchanjunga, Makalu, Baruntse, Amadablam and other mountains and peaks. We will lower down to Mera Peak Base Camp on the same day.

Day 14

Trek to Khare (5045m), 4hrs

After cleaning Mera Base Camp Area, we will start our return trip. We will descend through the rock strewn path for about 4hrs through the moraine valley to Khare.

Day 15

Trek to Kothe (3600m), 5hrs

Leaving Khare behind, we will take the descending trail to Hinku Valley. The trail contours through through the valley to Kothe. Ridge in Kothe offers great views of mountains and valley. We will stay overnight at Kothe.

Day 16

Trek to Thuli Kharka 6hrs

After taking the brief descend, we will take short climb through the western edge of Hinku Valley. We will reach the top of ridge after about 2hrs of steep climb. We can get close- up view of Mera peak from the top. We will lower down from the ridge to Thuli Kharka from where we can get spectacular view of Mera Peak Range.

Day 17

Trek to Lukla

2hrs of trek will take us to the base of Zatrwa La pass. We can get the views of Lukla valley, Cho Oyu, Numbur Mountain and other peaks and mountains from the top of Zatrwa La pass. Lowering down from the pass, we will reach Chutanga and return to Lukla.

Day 18

Fly back to Kathmandu

We will take an early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu.

Day 19

Departure

Thamel is more popular destination for last minute shopping. You can buy souvenir items like handicrafts and masks in Thamel. You will be picked up at the hotel and shifted to Kathmandu Airport from where you will head towards your next destination. We hope to see you soon.
